What is Dolly Parton's Imagination Library?
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is the flagship program of The Dollywood Foundation. It reaches more children than any other early childhood book gifting program, and mails free, high-quality, age-appropriate books to children from birth until age five, no matter their family’s income.
What is United Way's role in this program?
As the local program partner for Lee County, the UWLC is responsible for recruiting new children to the program and managing all existing children. We are also responsible for covering the cost of all books and the cost to ship them.
Who is eligible?
Children from birth until five (5) in Lee County, Alabama.
Are there options for children who are visually impaired?
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in collaboration with American Printing House offers the "Braille Tales" program, sending six print/braille books per year to blind/low vision children and blind/low vision parents of children under the age of 6. This program is not limited to those in Lee County. To learn more or to sign up, click here.
