What is Dolly Parton's Imagination Library?
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is the flagship program of The Dollywood Foundation. It reaches more children than any other early childhood book gifting program, and mails free, high-quality, age-appropriate books to children from birth until age five, no matter their family’s income.
What is United Way's role in this program?
As the local program partner for Lee County, the UWLC is responsible for recruiting new children to the program and managing all existing children. We are also responsible for covering the cost of all books and the cost to ship them.
Who is eligible?
Children under the age of five (5) in Lee County.
Are there options for children who are visually impaired?
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in collaboration with American Printing House offers the "Braille Tales" program, sending six print/braille books per year to blind/low vision children and blind/low vision parents of children under the age of 6. Can I sponsor a child's books?
If you are a business or organization, you can give the gift of reading to a child through our Book Label Sponsorships:
Silver Sponsorships: $500

Platinum Sponsorships: $2,5000

If you are an individual, you can give the gift of reading to a child through our giving tiers:
- You can sponsor one child's books for one year for $30
- You can sponsor five children's books for one year for $150
- You can sponsor ten children's books for one year for $300
How to submit my donation:
- You can pay by credit, debit or Apple Pay by filling out the donate form.
- You can mail cash or a check to our office at 2133 Executive Park Drive, Opelika, AL 36801. Please make any checks out to "United Way of Lee County."
How do I sign up?
